We get asked many questions about healing within the church. Answers to some of the most common questions are posted here. Please note that it is best to speak to an official at the church for a more detailed answer.

Q. What is Spiritual Healing?

The Spiritual Healer is a channel for the inflow of Universal Energy, the source of which can be interpreted by individuals according to their own personal belief. Spiritual Healing is holistically safe and non-invasive. It is the Universal Healing that can be channeled by individuals who have an ability, which has been enhanced by training, to attune them to this energy. It may take the form of contact or absent / distant healing.

Contact healing - often referred to as the Laying on of Hands on the body, as the energy is channeled to the patient. The patient will be asked to sit in a chair, to give the Healing. The patient will not be asked to remove items of clothing apart from their outer coat.

Absent or distant healing - through the process of attunement, the Healer directs the energy to the person who is to receive the Healing. This may also be interpreted as prayer. A book is available in the Church for anyone to add names of people they know who need Healing, but are not able to come themselves.

Spiritual Healing does not intrude on any individual’s personal belief.

Q. Do church healers operate within standards?

All healers in our church are members of the Scottish Association of Spiritualist Healers or Scotia Healing Association. All work to the Alliance of Healing Associations’ Code of Conduct.

Q. How much does it cost to receive healing in the church?

There are no charge whatsoever for healing in Portobello Spiritualist Church. Our healers are all volunteers and give their time freely. All we ask is that you respect the church and be sensitive to the needs of others coming for healing.
